It's My Demo Pt.2: Ras Kass "Soul On Ice Demo" x A Tribe Called Quest "The Lost Demos" x Gravediggaz "Demo Tape"

Let's kick this off with Ras Kass' "Soul On Ice Demo." This is NOT to be confused w/ his cassette release, "Sampler On Ice," as people have mistaken in the past. This is 11 original gritty outtakes of tracks that would later make the official "Soul On Ice" LP. If you ask me, he sounds more comfortable in these mixes, then the mixed & mastered cuts. Can't express why, except to say they are just gritty tracks to begin with & I happen to like that lo-fi, basement quality in music. Sometimes tracks are just TOO clean. Contains some of his best work, in my opinion.

I'd call this a peripheral post, as they are "demos," but it's not a "demo tape," ya see the difference? This is A Tribe Called Quest's "The Lost Demos," which amongst other tracks contains the Dilla produced, "Practice Session," "Mr. Incognito," "Wifey," "Girls (Ummah Demo Mix)," and 7 more solid cuts. This is said to have been "released" around 1997, and if you are a fan of A Tribe Called Quest like I am, then you will definitely want this in your collection. I posted "Practice Session" 12" not long ago & got great feedback, enjoy more tracks just like it here.

I posted the whole Wu Tang Clan's demo in my last "It's My Demo" post, but here is the original Gravediggaz "Demo Tape," as well. I posted this originally @ "The Analects," but it seems like I lost a lot of readers transferring over to this site, so I'm reposting it. It was released around '93, before their debut album "6 Feet Deep," (using the commercially released name lol). RZA & Prince Paul lead the way on this one, with the help of Too Poetic & Frukwan. This demo tape is a nice piece of hip-hop history, definitely enjoy. I hope I wont have to repost it again lol.
